چکیده

Considering the technological advances in touch-based devices, gesture-based interaction has become a prevalent feature in many application domains. Information systems are starting to explore this type of interaction. Currently, gesture specifications are hard-coded by developers at the source code level, hindering its reusability and portability. Similarly, defining new gestures in line with users’ requirements is further complicated. This paper describes a model-driven approach to include gesture-based interaction in desktop information systems and a tool prototype to: capture user-sketched multi-stroke gestures and transform them into a model, automatically generating the gesture catalogue for gesture-based interaction technologies and gesture-based interface source code. We demonstrate our approach in several applications, ranging from case tools to form-based information systems.

A MDA-Compliant Environment for Developing User Interfaces of Information Systems

To cope with the ever increasing diversity of markup languages, programming languages, tool kits and interface development environments, conceptual modeling of user interfaces could bring a framework for specifying, designing, and developing user interfaces at a level of abstraction that is higher than the level where code is merely manipulated. For this purpose, a complete environment is prese...

Automatic Generation of a Multi Agent System for Crisis Management by a Model Driven Approach

Considering the increasing occurrences of unexpected events and the need for pre-crisis planning in order to reduce risks and losses, modeling instant response environments is needed more than ever. Modeling may lead to more careful planning for crisis-response operations, such as team formation, task assignment, and doing the task by teams. A common challenge in this way is that the model shou...

Hidden Markov Model for Gesture Recognition

This report presents a method for developing a gesture-based system using a multi-dimensional hidden Markov model (HMM). Instead of using geometric features, gestures are converted into sequential symbols. HMMs are employed to represent the gestures and their parmeters are learned from the training data. Based on “the most likely performance” criterion, the gestures can be recognized through ev...

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...

EMG-based wrist gesture recognition using a convolutional neural network

Background: Deep learning has revolutionized artificial intelligence and has transformed many fields. It allows processing high-dimensional data (such as signals or images) without the need for feature engineering. The aim of this research is to develop a deep learning-based system to decode motor intent from electromyogram (EMG) signals. Methods: A myoelectric system based on convolutional ne...
